Abstract:

Contains minutes; photographs; membership lists; newsletters and yearbooks; and programs and convention material relating to the sports, oratory, religious, community service, social, and cultural committees. Also contains a history of Aleph Zadik Aleph's Northern Region District, Number 4 (also known as the Northern Region of BBYO), for the years 1926-1955, that was compiled by Robert E. Levinson, which contains the viewpoints of mainstream Jewish youth from the late 1950s on such issues as Jewish education, community leadership, and family and peer relations.

Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA) was created to help Jewish youth learn about and appreciate Jewish religion and culture, and it was organized on a national level in 1924. Although B'nai B'rith started its organization for young women, which they called B'nai B'rith Girls, also in 1924, it was not until 1940 when B'nai B'rith Girls began to be sponsored nationally. Since 1944, AZA and B'nai B'rith Girls have been part of the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization (BBYO) and, as such, B'nai B'rith and B'nai B'rith Women sponsor them.
